big red apples

beauty never fades…
just gets more beautiful with age
it’s not what’s going on with you
it’s what’s going on inside

are you picking all the right songs
to put inside your pockets…things like
big red apples ‘n cherry coloured blossoms
see now, I bet you’re thinking ‘blue sky thoughts’
and soon you’re getting high again
on how love really hurts

smile that sad old smile,
don’t you waste it on the ground
when your smile is ‘up’ again
the whole world says ‘amen’

let your heart be open
you know that ache is poison
potion from dead riverbeds
like acid in motion

Been trying to think of what to say, but I couldn’t help but constantly think about my apple heart as I was reading through this (especially as it was a close-up portrait with a closed mouth – could almost go with this writing as a what it is before the smile…). Very deep and lovely flow.

  • thanks so much Mui-Ling, it’s nice to think you can relate it to your beautiful apple heart :) x
