mixed colours

spring and autumn breeze blows gently
to the tune of the sing-song cicadas’ fray
the percussion of crunching leaves sets a beat in time
in time and space they play
enter winter winds and summer’s fires
creating tension and harmonies that guide
flux and flow of life determined by the tide

I yearned for the love and the life
to lessen the burden of a wife and strife
I looked at the moon too soon
and fretted the moments unravelling before my eyes

were I wise and were I simplified
I would drive to the beyond and back again
were I a simple man
I would sing a sample of every song under
the canopy of heaven

and night and day have mixed their colours
taking turns at shifts every twelve golden hours
did you see the sunset, or the early morning sunrise
dawn, did you stop to listen to the patter of the rain

I know people have difficulty enough stopping to listen. The forces in the universe is pretty busy too – so many are overwhelmed by the big crowd that they will overlook the one that is asking ‘are you listening?’. Loved the way this flowed; beautiful write.

  • that’s true I think people are so busy, I think ‘being too busy’ is an epidemic and a tragedy….it is one sure way to neglect the soul and such a shame, we are all prone to it, we are all trying so hard to be there for everyone else, to do all that must be done, and the pressure is great upon each person, everyone has a difficult time with this, or we wouldn’t discuss it so much, I’m sure…..it’s like a little switch, we have to make a decision to turn it all off for a minute and be immersed and present in a given moment….and by doing that, we nourish ourselves, reset our outlook …and start over with a fresh perspective, thanks so much Mui-Ling for your insight and thoughtful response! :) x
