a love poem

the merry go round of your cherry heart love
gave me the strength to build up a wall
not a barrier, but a wall with steps and a view
not a chamber or a prison
but a place from which I could launch and fly
not a cold wall of brick and mortar
but a wall of beauty transcending all other loves
and you lit up my night and steadied my day
you were my weakness and I was your strength
I was your weakness and you were my strength
we would overcome any obstacles in our path
and master the day to navigate the dark
I looked up to you and noticed the moon
and I thought to myself, you are my strength,
my midday and my noon, my entire alphabet
and you thought to yourself, we are the apples
of each other eyes, the silver that wraps the gold
the newspaper that wraps the china in the trunks so old
and always, forever our love is eternally unfolding
never it is ending, for love is always transcending
