tree of life

I stood tall while all else diminished
I knew not how to run away
Nor did my soul understand composure
or compulsion, I stood without malice
in the field of light and of destruction
unperturbed, I glowed, a light to the living
and a comfort to the lost

Sometimes I wonder how a tree really feels – I mean after all, although they don’t move they DO have feelings. And while humans and animals have a limited life span, a tree, if cared for properly, can live forever, witnessing so much throughout the years… You mentioned in your last interview of how we lose the essence of childhood as we become adults – but how much can a tree remember throughout the years they stand. Beautiful poem Karin.
