Golden Tortoise Beetle

There once was a beetle, I didn’t yet know
he named himself Golden, not Gordon or Snow
He was, so some said, a tortoise disguised
Whenever I saw him, I got rather bug-eyed!

He chortled and chuckled, all this way n that
He giggled and squiggled all over the map!
On part of his body, he wore a gold hat
He gleamed like a jewel on a lavish cravat!

My eyes went all goggly and gooey and dewy
My heart went all sappy and soggy and oohie
I squealed when I saw him and straight up I sat
As his beautiful gold turned to red, spotted black!

If you haven’t already, you must write a children’s book Karin. And I can’t help but wonder how your hand would draw its golden tortoise of a beetle.

    Magical I’m sure…

  • thank you so much Cynthia for your great encouragement, I was so taken with this beetle the words just poured forth :) xxx

  • haha….I’m so glad you saw it lk and that it made you smile! I get rather silly sometimes, and make up crazy rhymes….Ben and I do this together sometimes on long journeys, something I think I got from my Dad…who is often silly and funny and likes to make up crazy rhymes :) Thank you so much, and I’d love a ck, but I’ve had my quota :))
