The Daydreamer's Journey

I’m going on a journey like Lisa did
across the sea and over mountains to a place so far away
the clouds are made of lacework and the rivers are real beds
and the things that I am dreaming
come and live outside my head

I’m going on a journey like Scott did
where the finches spread their feathers til they morph into a tree
and all the other little birdies can rest inside for free
where visions are not daydreams and become more real than me
and there’s apple pie with cinnamon and lemonade for tea

I’m going on a journey like Sally did
and I’ll bring you back some tea-smoked figs and chai of ginger root
I’ll laden up my knapsack with lots of loot as proof
and while I’m out to sea I’m having dinner with the dolphins
I expect they have so much to say and I’ll return with more endorphins!

Lisa inspired this poem. You see, I rarely travel as I have a couple of health issues that make it quite difficult. Instead, I float around to all kinds of places in my daydreams!

Very beautiful Karin. It is a pity that health issues make it difficult to travel, but often, the journey of your own heart is the most beautiful place to be xx.

  • thanks so much Mui-Ling.. yep, but I think I will eventually be able to in time, I’ve just had to figure out how when the foods I must eat, cannot be contaminated by wheat. It just takes really careful planning to be able to enjoy a holiday without the onset of illness, unfortunately from past experience, on 2 holidays, I was ill the whole time and it wasn’t very pleasant at all x

Not too many places you can’t go in a daydream, Karin,… and you don’t even need a passport :)

What a lovely poem for this fine day :) x

  • thank you so much Matt! ….it’s another gorgeous day here too…..and yes, that’s right Matt, they (scientists) the brain cannot sometimes discern the difference between what we think or imagine and what we experience, studies have shown that people even thinking through exercises can strengthen and tone muscle, which is great for invalids and people in wheelchairs who can’t really exercise leaving certain body parts to wither and deterioriate…I still find it hard to believe, but there is a real sense of wellbeing does come about from visualisation I find…and that has to be a good thing hey :)
