and the tide came rolling in

…and the incoming tide speaks in whispers of times past
of times to come, of the universe and the shell dwellers
and of all the mysteries before the dreamer who sets her
heart upon the night sky and the day of redemption

…and the great moon over the water fills her heart with
hope for the times to come, tho worn in spirit she will
endure, like the elders and the trees whose souls sink deep
into the earth, like the ones who went long before with
feathers tied to their charcoal plaits singing the song of
the land upon the steed

…and there, in the sweet meadow where new life bursts
from mere sunshine and rain, she will regain her strength
and knit the fragments of her heart back together…swollen
and shattered, grafted to the thread that is life.

…and the wholeness that transcends all other things will
be found in the stillness of the waters and global reflections of
light that reveal our very core and the myth that all we
were is all we shall ever be, will revise itself until we become
all that we can be.

…and those naysayers shall be silenced by the evidence
that all is not as they saw, or foresee, but that forces far
greater are at work and always have been and we are not
the only authors in lifes way.

….and she steps aside, and let’s them through, that youth
may have it’s fair share of time and of experience…allowing
their stride to succeed hers.

…and in the sky, appeared a sign, that of the owl,
with a heart of true red and it’s beat scared away the darkness of the night
who retracted it’s grip on the dawn

…and the tide came rolling in

…and the incoming tide speaks in whispers of times past of times to come

Ni doubt about it, the world, the universe is pretty a clock itself – the earth moving around the sun as the hands on the clock turn, and with every round there is that hour of the tides rising.

I like how the poem begins with the tide and end with the tide as though a day began, ended and starts again. Wonderful write Karin. Each day is a journey and as one ends, another starts again.

  • Thanks so much dear Mui-Ling, I love your observations :)))
