closed doors

Whenever a door is closed to you, forget the idea that it was not meant to be, but instead think…..perhaps whatever is behind that door, is not yet ready for me to enter. Perhaps the people and places beyond that door ,are still readying themselves in preparation for me, and although it seems that I myself am ready to enter, perhaps I am not. Perhaps there is more growing to do, more wisdom to learn, before that door will budge in readiness for you. So be not dismayed and be not deterred from your dreams, for they remain steady and true. It may simply be a time and times perhaps, before the door will open, and in the meantime, you must ready yourself and prepare for the moment you cross the threshold. Beware of other doors that lure and tickle and draw your heart away from it’s purpose. Sometimes, it is not another door we should seek, but instead be preparing for the one door we know to be ours. Blessings….Karin

I say this after seeing someone I love struggle for years, only to find that the door is now being opened…i believe the door opens when we are receptive, willing and able to embrace all the changes and demands that going through that door will entail, if the door seems closed, it is perhaps that either we, or what is behind that door…may not yet have reached the state of readiness required. In past, I had only ever known the idea, that if one door is closed another will open…however, it is only in hindsight one can see that perhaps there is a reason why a door has not yet opened. Even if we are ready, perhaps the circumstances/people behind that door are not yet ready for us. So it pays to be patient and not give up on our dreams too easily.

That could be almost any of us. Life is quite a metaphor. I know; things happen for a reason – although we cannot really know why things happen – why the door gets closed on us – the possibilities can be conceived. In some cases the door is really closed on you, but sometimes there is a good reason behind it. There are often good reasons parents keep certain truths away from the children – some people leaving their loved ones without saying anything because they don’t want to risk putting them in danger. In the past couple months I’ve thought back about those who have hurt me, or otherwise put stress on me in some way – although it’s upsetting; I know they could have their valid reasons (although doesn’t always make it right). Not to say they all have valid reasons, but you can never really tell. But good thoughts will bring better outcomes so those doors we are determined to go through are best not to give up on. In the case of the door that was believed to be meant but not in the end was not, remember the days it was welcoming. Beautiful thoughts Karin.

  • ah so much wisdom in your words Mui-Ling…..yes, those that have hurt us….what can one say about that….I don’t wish to remain embittered either, but to see things as they really are. Life is not easy, people come and go with many different agendas, it is difficult indeed to remain an open hearted soul when one has been hurt and wishes to retract and recoil from the pain. It is helpful to realise that in this world there are some who perhaps are cold hearted and do not care… is just the way of the world….however there are those who deeply care and even then, are capable of wounding without even knowing sometimes…for none of us is perfect sadly, but the one thing that I know I love to see in people, is that open warm heartedness that remains despite the hurt or pain that has been caused. It is hard to watch someone die and wither away through bitterness, it is not an attractive sight….it makes me want to try hard to be the person I would respect and admire, the one with the open heart…rather than that embittered one….but it is very very hard indeed…thank you for your wonderful insight dear Mui-Ling…I hope that healing is eminent for all those who hurt xox

I hope so too Karin. Yes, there are certainly those who deeply care and even then, are capable of wounding without even knowing sometimes; although what I was referring to are people who know they are hurting someone – they may really not want to but they have to otherwise for their better sake. I watched an anime series taking place in ancient Japan where a girl was determined to find her father who she never knew. A part of her was upset that her father had left her mother – which she didn’t yet know the reason to. Overtime she learns her father followed Christianity (and many Christian Japanese at the time were exterminated for their beliefs). After finally meeting him (when he was about to meet his death) she learned her father left the family because he did not want them to be in danger.

It’s not easy to tell the reasons in various situations. And sometimes it’s just up to us whether to be forgiving – we don’t have to be. But for those we care for sometimes we have to be understanding. In some cases we may end up not seeing or speaking to them again; as painful as it can be, we can remember it happened because they cared…

  • oh yes, I see what you are saying Mui-Ling….these people are true heroes and heroines, and sort of martyrs for doing such a brave thing as walking away from the one they love, so as to protect them from harm….in so doing tho, they place themselves in the unenviable position of being thought to be cruel and heartless and leaving forlorn loved ones confused and unsure. I didn’t realise this sort of thing still happened, it is eye opening isn’t it, and heartbreaking too. In a sense they’ve given up their own happiness to allow their loved ones to live…but what sort of a life is it, without them….and so it is, we must try to understand, that things are not always as they seem….things are always more complex than our reasoning allows… takes a lot of living to learn such wisdom I’m sure….and it’s only because of the painful journey one experiences, that he or she is able to see the length, depth and breadth of the possibilities….. I think that many times, the trials we endure, make us better people, more empathic and more able to guide, be guided and love xox

I love this because it is so relevant to my situation right now. <3 So many people want to rush through life, constantly moving, if one thing doesn’t work out they’ll jump to the next thing…it’s destructive to themselves. I wish more people thought this way.

  • it’s great to hear that this resonates with you Rose …it’s true, especially in these days of extreme time-poorness….there is no time unless we make time….and this is hard to do, because of all the demands and just to be seen to be doing as much as everyone else so that we don’t feel like we’re falling behind…there is so much pressure…the most important thing you can do I think, is to have some idea of where you are going and a bit of a plan as to how you’ll get there…that is a real asset….take your time, be sure and enjoy the journey my friend xox

it is very true kt. there are usually reasons that things do, or dont happen.

  • thanks very much lk….yeah, after seeing my friend having to wait so long for good things to happen, it was very heartening to see the doors opening…and I couldnt help but wonder whether thats because the timing was right now, whereas before, it perhaps wasn’t … just pondering :) ccc’s and cf’s
