...that was Breeze

On a day much like any other, tiny Breeze slipped on her petticoats of tulle and lace, all pink with pretty. Her face coloured high, as she swept her hair into a bite-size bun with tiny tendrils falling sweetly over her little rose-like ears. Her cheeks glistened with honey from toast at breakfast and a bee slowly buzzed by paying his respects and nodded in appreciation of her golden good taste. Breeze’s idea of heaven was a diamond encrusted fairy wand and a pair of pink satin toe-shoes all laced up in criss-cross fashion. They reminded her of mama’s pink pavlova mix, all silken sugar mixed with cochineal, heaven in a mixmaster. On the tip of Breeze’s tiny nose, so perfectly shaped, were a number of freckles entertaining a few leftover crumbs. Breeze believed that brains were only as good as the imagination they fostered. Outside, in the fresh air, she could visualise becoming anything she desired and many dreams were established in the garden under her special tree where the butterflies hatched in wild abundance. Breeze attached significance to things, like the blades of grass, they were homes for lady beetles. The silken webs with dew, were for spiders by day and fairies by night. Toadstools were signs that fairies existed and magic ruled the air. Birds were messengers who saw all, knew all, and guided the bees. Birds sent messages to the great sun in the sky, who oversaw all of nature and at night the moon was a wise sage who provided light and comfort to all creatures. Things that flew past, were merry by nature and sometimes she felt they were wearing disguises. Or perhaps that something had cast upon them a spell and changed their form from human to something else. She was gentle with all creatures, just in case. That was Breeze.

As Breeze grew into a tall willowy frame, her love of nature continued to direct her life choices. More and more, Breeze blew in the direction of her ancestors, the blythe (joyful) and beautiful brethren of the bounty of life. A gentle people, born of the tip of icebergs just where the light glints and of the dew on rosebuds, their essence is rosewater and they were simply brought into the world to ‘notice’ beauty and share it’s secrets of life, love and longevity…peace, serenity and nurture….for in nature there is nurture, and in love there is life, and in life there is great sacrifice and suffering…and in sacrifice and suffering there is integrity. Joy in abundance is sometimes found in the places of suffering, and where beauty is, there may be ugliness also. Breeze’s life was always filled to overflowing when she chanced on abundance of goodness and kindness and love in the face of those suffering in silent agonies. She took pains to reveal to them the beauty of what was, is and ever shall be the beauties of nature and all the loveliness she could find, she laid at their feet. It was her duty, her sacrifice and her joy. That was Breeze.
