The Magpie's Song

I heard you
calling
just a little time ago
and i thought
what is that noise
it’s so sweet
I must find the owner
of that superb
voice
I needed only to
pace
a few steps
more
before I saw
who you were…
and I knew
it was you
telling stories
again….

I grinned
and I
purred
with elation
that stirred
at that view in
outdoors’ creation
as your song reached
my ears
my eyes filled
with tears
and I gloried in
all that I knew
Your song caused
my soul
to renew…..

In trills
and in foils
and in delicate
chorus
you sang and you
storied along
Caught up in your
song
til my heart
ached and throbbed
and my thoughts
then completely
stood still…..

At first
I thought your song
was for me
until i spied your
blotchy brown
baby
and I smiled
in harmony
with your
melody
you can play
that track
forever
for me
lay it
down
with
the
record
company
and we’ll
dine on
the royalties
and drink
cups of
tea
with
the Queen…

    Such a unique Aussie sound!

  • oh yes, Kristy, I listened to a few on youtube and they couldn’t compare to the beautiful song I heard…it was extremely lovely and gentle, i truly believed she (the mother bird) was telling her baby a story…sheltering from the rain…it was a magic moment :)

uwaaa!! love this!! i just realised i didn’t get to hear the magpie song while i was there!! =( uwaaaa… T_T i love them!! they’re cute!! did they build a nest near your house, Karin?? that’d be so sweet!! i love the part you said you thought the song was for you, until you saw her lil baby.. that’s so sweet and cute!! LOVELY!! XD thank you, Karin!! this piece gives me energy now!! =D

  • ah, I’m so glad Fa… that’s true you didn’t hear them sing…but you can look at youtube and listen there….but it’s nowhere near as crystal clear and beautiful as this darling mother sang to her baby today…and Basil watched on all excited and Nudge just lay in his little armchair and gave them not a second thought..which is very odd, as he usually always will bark and chase the birdies away…but not today….it was very special :) x

sweet!! Nudge prolly feels lazy and wanna chillout~ lolz!! XD though that sounds more like Basil to me.. hehehe.. where was the bird? in front? behind?

  • haha…yes…he was was probably snoozing away…the bird was out back on the clothesline…right on the end (both were) on the first and last line, side by side kinda…just taking shelter from the rain…i stood at the kitchen bench inside and dared not go further, but Basil snuck right up to the screen door at the back….and they didn’t fly away… Nudge was laying in his chair outside…i was very surprised the maggies stayed long enough for me to enjoy them today :)

  • lol…well he couldn’t go out there, he was stuck in the house behind the screen…he’s so naughty he tore up our front door screen….meow meow meow all the time to be let in, to be let out….arrgh…we need a cat door on the front instead of the side really…. lol
