Origami girl

Origami girl
I’d like for you
to fold me a pearl
for wisdom
fashion a gondola
for my journey
create a paper heart
to wedge in my pocket
from the trees that
gift us paper
make me a house
with a roof to live under
and send me
a samurai hat
for safety and
remembrance
and fashion the mantis
who’ll sit right beside
offering prayers
to the church
with a steeple
and may the pink elephant
attend to the swans
and the Japanese lady
tend the koi
in their pond
set out a picnic
for sushi to share
with the squirrels and fish
and the birds of the air…
Origami girl
meet me there
