a personal manifesto

I don’t know why, but every now and then, usually when in the loo or the shower, I have an overwhelming urge to say something deep. It doesn’t happen that often, but it did today and I hope you find it positive and receive it in the manner in which I share it…with love and gratitude.

a personal manifesto
by karin taylor (no capitals intentional)

i adopt the life of discovery and lifelong learning
as my ultimate goal and reason for being
i see the negativity in the world
as only an opportunity for understanding
a different point of view
to keep me humble
to remind me that my ideas and values
do not have to be the same as everyone else’s
for this world to ebb and flow

the world will continue to ebb and flow
despite me
we must be a part of the yin and the yang
the balance
balance is derived from an ability to achieve
harmony, to adjust the rudder and the steering
to the conditions, be they challenging
or be it fair sailing or unfair sailing,
adjustments are still required

the world will teach me that not all people
hold equal values, but that the key to not destroying
and not being destroyed is to simply find a way
to accept this, to agree on one thing,
even if that one thing, is to agree to disagree
it is seeing eye to eye on something
that brings about a commonality and
it takes effort and people concerned about
peace, to bring peace about.
sometimes in an effort
to bring peace, war is declared.
i do think about such things in a thoughtful manner
and i do not have extremes of ideas or wish not to
i am not lukewarm either, it is to my benefit
to listen and learn to understand all the views
of all the people, so that i might remain
teachable and humble
so that i might love all human beings
and so that i might not live with war in my heart
what I have learned, is that those who have been to wars
do not often have war in their hearts
sometimes it is the peacemakers who wear the banner of peace
but speak war with the venom from their lips
many innocents are killed in wars
wars that are waged with tongues every day
right here on the internet
it is in remembering that our tongues are weapons of war
that we will remain humbled and understand that each day
we make a choice as to whether or not we will participate
in war or peace
may our words be gentle, combined with beauty and strength
may we serve one another always with genuity, authenticity
and encouragement, for what one pulls down, another shall build up
what one builds up, another pulls down,
decide you will build, not walls, but fierce and beautiful strong
hearts, who are determined to promote acceptance
of each other through active listening
and where there is hatred, and there is hatred
do what you can to promote love
for nothing is more admirable
and when you feel you are treading water
and when you are sure you are going nowhere
and when you are spending all your strength
on climbing neverending walls and no one seems to listen
and no one seems to care, remember this for me,
that many people love you
that many people care
that many people do not realise you need encouragement
or a loving word in your ear right at this moment
but that it is ok to reach out and ask
and that many will come running
this is not an idea, but an experience of my own
i decided one day to stop my suffering and reach out
and i was overwhelmed with love and affection
do not hesitate to ask for love
many people doubt their own ability and do not think
that their love is valued, show them it is, by
asking them for some. you will be rewarded greatly
and so will they. we can then move forward into
more love, more true peace, more authenticity,
more balance, more acceptance. this is only reality
and this is hope.
