You Knew Me Not

The poem was inspired by this
poor dear dead little insect
I found today on my window sill

You Knew Me Not
by Karin Taylor ©

I’ve lived a life,
hidden from your eyes,
obscured from your sight.
Even my final sobs
and my final sigh
were darkened
by the night.
You heard me not,
You saw me not,
You loved me not,
nor did you care.
I lived a life,
hidden from your eyes,
obscured from your sight.
You see me now,
the afternoon light
made it seem like
my wings were in flight
the wind blew
and realised
my fragile plight
I am no more
I am no more
You knew me not.
And even now
you know me not
and time forgot
an image begot
is all there is
to prove I lived
..I did exist.
You knew me not
although I lived.
