whips and wasps

Words like whips and wasps
Stung my eyes, tongues lashing, teeth gnashing,
Life gushing out of me
I fell unable to rise
For heavy did your
Declarations of hatred
Rest on my heart
Turning to white with the
Awful weight of your hysterical and hypocritical accusations
Your finger pointing
Turned me into a wax figure
Some days I lay prostrate
On the floor
Arms outstretched
As in a crucifixion
I related then to the
Suffering of my Lord
Whose friends abandoned
Him in the final hour.
I knew your betrayal
I knew your name
I knew your face
I knew your love
Yet you betrayed my love
I want to forget
Your existence
And the violence
You forced in my face
I want to wipe from my memory
All the falsehood and pretence of your smiles
I am almost there
The bitterness has begun
To subside
In its place
Grows up a strength
That you cannot tap into
Or destroy
Watch me grow
From your caves of cowardice
And remember this
I will love you to the grave
I will forgive you til it hurts but we will never speak
Again
