remorse | karin taylor

Unfortunately, in my big rush to make an appointment on time yesterday, I hit three yellow butterflies….this is my sorry tale in poem format:

Butter yellow, little wings
Flutter high and low
Oh, if I could, I’d follow you
To where it is you go!

In my rush to get somewhere
We crashed into each other
Tiny wings all broke n bruised
fall lifeless in the gutter

Not just one, but two and three
I knocked down all your brothers
You wouldn’t think, you couldn’t know
I am a butterfly lover

Chances are, that heaven now
has cleaved yourselves unto her
I hope you are in painless bliss
and glorified all over

My heart it broke and shattered
when I crashed into your wings
I took from you, the song you sang
of nature’s precious things

At least you go as three, not one
Perhaps you’ll feast on honey
If heaven’s as they say it is
Your bliss will be my comfort

This is sad Karin and I am also a butterfly lover. I’m glad you wrote this in tribute to those little dear ones. But don’t blame yourself too much for accidents do happen though we may be sorry afterwards. xoxoxox

How clever you are! Adorable yet poignant “Remorse!” Like the American Indians and I am certain many other cultures, life is precious and this excludes no living thing! You captured it!

  • Thank you, you are very kind, and that’s a great compliment, very much appreciated :)
