a day in the life of an artist

The sun warms my chair
at three minutes past two

The palms wave their hands
in a sky of light blue

The clouds sit most gently
at five past the hour

I’m dreaming of coffee
and thinking of flowers

The hum of a mower
competes with the quiet

Disturbing my peace
increasing my ire

The mower has stopped
what a blissful relief

Oh dam, now it’s started
denying me peace

My head is all achy
eleven past two

My feet feel all lumpy
my ugg boots aren’t new

I’m wearing pyjamas
and nothing that’s matching

My teeth aren’t yet brushed
but I finished my drawing!
