Faith, Hope and Clarity | Karin Taylor

I saw a sign said ‘faith, hope and charity
but all I ever wanted was
‘faith, hope and clarity

I sent a chariot forth to borrow some ‘verbosity
it rained in ‘actions, deeds, and curiosity

I wandered further than the stars have been
I squandered everything that was in between
I waxed and waned with every moon
I stumbled over doom and gloom

I memorised the ‘desiderata
was mesmerised by pillars of data
Ate hot chips with seagull friends
Disturbed a clam who pinned my hand!

And every day I looked beyond
the sea, the lake, the green-ed fronds
I saw the space where tadpoles glide
and marvelled with enormous eyes

I felt the ocean’s pull and sway
exhaled as I approached my grave
and if this was my final breath
I think that I can enter death

I’ve done all that I can do now
I’ve painted all that I know how
And if I left, and when I’m gone
Please love my art and love me long
