just having fun | karin taylor

I dreamt so of lollipops imploding with colour
that rainbows were hatching from eggs in the cupboards
I noticed the sugar was white and seemed lonely
Two drips of cochineal with egg whites to bind it
We made pink pavlova, turned brown in the sun
we hatched up some mischief, til the day was all done
ran through some clover and sang sweet sad dirges
Went down to the river where the willow emerges
and nothing was said and little was done
we were far far too busy, just having fun

I can hear the laughter and feel the gentle breeze around my ankles. I’m a lot younger than I am now… although I feel young anyway. Did I mention I am skipping? At least in my head.

  • oh that’s wonderful! Thank you for your lovely comment! Keep on skipping….. :) x

There is still a child in all of us, the trouble is I`m a fourteen stone one. lovely dreamy write.

  • I like to think so Woodie, the main thing is that we can still conjure a sense of wonder. Having the ability to see things as wonderful and miraculous and mysterious, although I can also be cynical and pessimistic. It is a choice to let go sometimes, of the mundane, and be in the moment, even if only temporarility to experience the rare wonder of nature, the altruism that humans have capacity for and still occasionally show, a kindness, etc….and to feel gratitude deep in one’s heart, to put aside for a moment what one doesn’t have, to focus and enjoy and experience, what one does have :) Thank you Woodie! :)

Karin this is a fun write. It brings out the joy and laughter of just being goofy and silly and forgetting your problems of every day life, even for just a while.

  • Thank you so much sammygirl2635! :)
