my jargon

my jargon

my words are dislocated from me as they rise from my throat
syllables expressed through my ability to make sounds they float by as
unseen objects that bob about making no sense at all
they were born of an urgency to speak and explain and express
but they were less than perfectly formed and juxtaposed so that
somehow they lost any meaning for the audience they were spoken
to. I am used to this. This is nothing new. It is more nuisance
than anything else. I cannot seem to speak anything clearly or
sensibly, it all sounds jumbled and disconnected from the source.
Arriving at a place that had yet to be prepared for their coming,
making their entry too soon and existing only to confuse despite
the desire to complement conversations already existing. Words
spin and sigh and twirl and one word grabs another by the arm,
waltzing around the room, people look confused, they yawn, they
are perplexed and confounded….and bored. I feel sad, I cannot
say what I want to say, if only my tongue were a pencil and the
air my paper, I could say everything in sequence and time it so
that you would understand. The clarity would be clear as black
ink on white parchment, you would see, and click and aha, and I
would know you heard me. I would know you understood me.
It is not a great loss, but initially hard to grasp that my words from
nearly half a century, still float disconnected and have not been
received because of their inability to be understood. I will grab
them all and take them back, I will file them for the future,
I will rearrange the text, back and forth, until they make the
sense I wish to make. I will hold my tongue and let my fingers
speak. Only then, can I communicate at will, at length, so that
others can comprehend my jargon.
