all these works are extremely pretty and hold a joy for xmas that is innocent and true just as this season should be felt

  • thank you so much Loui, your comments and responses are always so heartfelt, I feel it’s a sacred place when I read your words or see your art, it’s not that I feel a special connection, it’s that you have a reverence and an irreverance that I find delightful and confronting at the same time…and deeply honest. I am so glad if these paintings send that message, it gets harder and harder as I get older, to experience the joy of christmas that I felt as a young child. My children are now grown up, but I think it returns when the grandchildren arrive on the scene, lol. (well i hope that’s a while away to be honest) ….I know you have a dear sweet little one still, so that must help keep the joy alive, as you see Christmas through their eyes. When I was little, I would go to church, sometimes midnight mass, and I felt that deep blue magic of Christmas so sweetly in my heart…..I treasured it….I always enjoyed the nativity scene where the church had laid a little baby in a manger (a doll) but using my imagination the scene was as real to me, as the very first nativity…..and when I think about it now, it increases my faith. I think art is all about revisiting the child we were and linking that mystery and amazement and awe, with the grown child or adult we are now….in that way, I think the sense of nostalgia can be relived over and over…it’s just a guess, but that’s what I am thinking for now :)
