I’ve taken this image of the beach with the iPhone 5 and processed in Nik Color Efex and Photoshop, using a number of layers to give the impression of a beach, ocean or sea, in the colours of a rainbow. Everything is deliberately blurry/out of focus, so as to enhance the focus on the small foam wave rolling in at my feet, which is how it felt as I watched it creep up to my toes.

Beautiful! Reminds me of a line from one of my favorite Emily Dickinson poems….
    ( I am paraphrasing)

“I will show you the sunrise, a ribbon at a time”….

This is the ocean…a ribbon at a time. Wonderful!

  • thanks so much Karin, what a beautiful quote :) xx

Were you already thinking rainbow before I commented on the pic in facebook? Back then I was already thinking that it was like seeing a rainbow from the red to the blue! (The edge of the water is kind of substituting yellow that goes after red.) SO lovely Karin!

I maybe coming on less over there in the next while though; new recent changes in facebook is making me unhappy :(

  • thanks so much Mui-Ling, I can’t remember, probably not lol :) This one is a bit different to the one on FB, I redid it in P/s instead of the iPhone apps and tried to come up with a similar look. Someone mentioned that I’d processed it with a ready made app, but I wanted to prove to myself that I could do the same thing by myself without the app, lol :) x

  • Yeah, it really sucks about FB, did you see the recent thing I posted, it’s a good read. Very disappointing, pointless putting all that work into it really, it does seem a waste of time for business, but it’s still a nice way to connect with friends, mates, family etc….so I’ll still be around over there :) x

Really like the low angle Karin and the layering works very well indeed, the focus is what really does it though, highly effective

  • thank you so much for the positive feedback Stuart, I really appreciate it :)
