I took this photo of the beach a few days ago, using the 180 degree Panorama mode on my new iPhone 5, I hope you like it. It was really amazing taking it, and I can’t wait to do some more of these. The water wasn’t all that calm and nice out to sea that day, and yet on the shore there were these very unusual pockets of water, that we don’t usually see here, at very low tide. I had just been in town for an appointment and thought I’d walk over to the beachfront and have a look before my ride turned up, so it was just one of those moments captured in time, that make you glad you stopped for a while and took a moment to enjoy your surroundings. I was thinking what a shame it was that I got the ramp and the rocks in the image, but Scott (hubby) really loves it anyway, and thought it would be a nice print to have here at home….so I’ve uploaded it, really for him.

Did you take this with your phone? What a good quality….I think i am going to buy a iphone too and throw away my cameras :) (I still have my old mobile phone, which works only for calling people :)

  • Hi Ellen, yes, I took it with the camera that comes with the iPhone 5, it is great quality for landscapes, I still am not happy with it for portraits though…but yes, beautiful quality for this type of thing. Oh no, don’t throw away your camera, no, this isn’t a replacement for your beautiful camera and lens, but it does suffice when you are out and about and want to create something of this nature :) x

  • I also don’t think it would be that good for macro shots, I don’t know as I haven’t actually tried it for that yet, there might be apps you can get for macro…I must look into that too :)

  • people are buying this accessory called olloclip to make the iPhone 5 into a fisheye or macro I think, but there are some problems with it, so I’ve heard.

P.s. I like the clear colors here!

  • Thank you Ellen, I had only a little bit of post processing to do, as it was already quite beautiful in the original :)

I love the rainbow colours in the water, and it suits that panorama nicely to make the bow shape :)

I don’t think the ramp and the rocks take away from the image at all; they make a nice frame.

  • thanks so much Mui-Ling, so happy you like the panorama and think the ramp and rocks aren’t in the way too much! :)
