Yesterday, I came across this lovely garden, and in it were all kinds of things, such as jewel beetles, carnations and daisies growing, and lots of hibiscus. I terrorised the poor beetles I’m afraid, in order to catch them being still, as there were great gusts of wind that were belting the plants about, but somehow I managed to capture this in one of the rare still moments.

I hope you like it. I hope the beetles don’t hate me…..I put them back on the same leaves….after we’d done our photo shoot. :)

kt, are you sure you didnt glue this to the plant, in the name of art! :)) . it is lovely, i like that the plants look like they are frosty.

  • lol lk, well, I do go to all sorts of weird trouble in the name of art, but that isn’t something I did haha…in fact, at this point, the little beetle had not had my paws on it yet, but later I took it and put it in the grass and chased it around for near on an hour taking shots and not one of them passed muster would you believe…..I was so relieved I got this one that seemed to work! So glad you like the plant, I never know what will work, but the tonal contrast and something else I did (which I can’t recall) with the software, brought out the veins, and also changed the tones of the green on the hibiscus….I really just lucked this…but very happy it worked out after all :) Thank you so much!! :)

  • lol…yay…I must have borrowed it subliminally…maybe I sleep walked over to your place or something like that Karen…haha…I’m so happy you like it though Karen, it’s a bit different and I spent so long taking photos of this cute little critter, only to end up with about one that I could actually use :) x

    beautiful clarity and startling colours

  • thank you so much Lisa, I’m so glad you like it and the colours, which are a bit different to what you’d usually see in a hibiscus, but I thought it was interesting and seemed to work well ….and lets the buggy have the limelight :)
