An Old Chinese Poem

The leaves break the bandage of the green stem, stretch themselves and form a green pool with untidy edges. Now the flower comes from out of the vast surface of the water, just like a very beautiful woman coming gracefully from her bath

forest friends is a pencil drawing which I thought looked nice just simply with a timber look, I’m going to also colour her properly for a whole different version soon, meanwhile, I hope you like this one.

I photographed the original pencil drawing, and added layers from Crumble.Crackle.Burn. with permission

This girl is expressing her love for nature at a fountain where a single lotus serves as a symbolic reminder… more info below

*Lotus*_ A common symbol in Asian art, the lotus symbolizes birth and rebirth through the fact that the petals open when the sun comes out and close when the sun sets. Also a symbol for fertility, creation, and purity. The long stem symbolizes our connection to our origins, while the flower represents the enlightenment to which we aspire_

To the Chinese it symbolizes ultimate purity and perfection because it rises untainted and beautiful from the mud. Every part of the plant, from roots to petals can be put to good use and has medicinal properties. As such, the plant as a whole, conveys deep significance. Esoterically, it represents inward emptying and outward splendor and this conveys the true nature of reality according to the Buddhist philosophy.
