Best of Friends TShirt

‘Friends Series’ card by Karin Taylor

Best of Friends is a mixed media production (ink, pastel, charcoal, acrylic) on canvas textured paper.

Two sweet little girls with towels over their shoulders, one in a terry towelling dress on their way to the beach, and it’s such a bright sunny day with a big swell, hope they know to swim between the flags!!!

hehe.. very interesting stitch-y look.. tho it makes 1 of the towel looks a lil prickly.. n_n"

  • I forgot to mention that I used sand as well in this painting :D the sand really shows up in the yellow dress (as terry towelling) and in the actual sand…i agree the towels and the waves look a bit prickly lol

eeh? interesting.. it can stick?? i tot you’d need glue to make it stick.. very interesting!! thanks for sharing Karin!! =D

  • ….yup, it used a heap of buttery yellow paint and pour the sand into it, mixed it up with a palette knife and slopped it on thickly….worked like a charm….at first I was going to apply the paint and sprinkle the sand onto it, in the hopes it would stick, but mixing the sand into the paint itself was much more effective :D You can mix other stuff into the paint too I’ve been told, even dirt! Some people use the red earth/dust here in Australia to add to their work, or so I’ve heard !
