‘Beach Series’ card by Karin Taylor

’I saw the angel in the marble and I carved until I set him free." – Michelangelo

Ocean Angel is a mixed media production (ink, charcoal, pastel, acrylics) on canvas textured paper.

Ocean Angel is a beautiful mer-angel, a mythical creature from my own imagination….unlike the mermaids who are generally mischievous in folklore, Ocean Angel tends to care :D

Aloha I’m Karin, my home is Australia, my muse is the ocean. It is joy to create little offerings to share, a morsel of friendliness, a taste of nostalgia, a little warmth for the heart in a moment of reflection. I enjoy illustrating for children and the inner child. I hope my paintings take you on little journeys. Pencil drawings are photographed & digitally painted, I also use watercolour, acrylics, ink & chalk pastels.

wow… nice!! i like the flow of her hair..
how long did it take to come up with each painting? they’re awesome.. =)

  • Gee, that’s a hard question…..these were from a while ago, I started painting seriously in 2002….each painting was taking me about a day to complete, but coming up with the ideas spanned a longer time. Many ideas come along and occasionally the dots join together in my head and I have a mind picture or ‘aha’ moment…..then feverishly get to work. These days my works are more complex, they take longer to ‘cook’ in my mind, and longer to produce…..up to a few weeks each :D …..my current paintings are also a lot larger……these were done mostly in A2 and A1 size which was much more manageable and a lot quicker to execute :D

go for it!!!! just a little encouragement for you frozenfa – my mind pics never come out like they were in my mind…..i had to let go of that and just go with the ideas and the flow and see what happens…sometimes (all the time) I just end up trying to make the best of ‘happy accidents’

This is so stunning love the colours…she would look great as a tee without the waves?…I have missed some of your fabulous work tooooo…must have been sleeping

  • thank you so much traceyanne, she would look nice, ‘cept she is cropped, it would be hard to make her look just right, given her arm and part of butt is missing :( but would’ve been great otherwise!
