song birds by Karin
digital collage

I’ve been going through some changes, some ups and downs…from sun up to sun down…trying to realign myself with things that haven’t sat so right with me…trying to understand myself, my reactions, human nature, why people do the things they do…i realised that i have a deep sense of loyalty and care very much for the community and people in general…I want my community to be happy and healthy. I want to live in harmony with people, not with feelings of anger, or wrong motivation… i like the people here a lot…this song and these birds are an expression of that affection

the creative process
it was really interesting how this all came about, it’s a new process i discovered while feeling rather low and trying something new to distract myself, and during this therapeutic time, I was also speaking to many people here and otherwise via bmails and emails, and things were becoming clearer for me, and less and less was i feeling so down….so out of that despair, came these little song birds.

I photographed the back of an old piece of paper upon which are my childhood drawings..the paper was foolscap and had gone a creamy brown, with 9 squares on it from the folds. That was the basis for the rest. I drew one bird…a couple of leaves and repeated those, layering as i went with textures, etc.. some of my own, some from crackle burn, and using some brushes in photoshop…i also used some music notes from another work i have on redbubble in my iphone portfolio called love song

I draw the stitches with my pen and wacom tablet and used shapes in photoshop also. Hope you like it..it’s dedicated to you…
