Heart of the Earth began as a simple pencil drawing in my sketch pad, i used a mechanical pencil and built up the shadows with a charcoal pencil. After photographing the drawing, i saved it and painted it digitally in Photoshop CS 4 with mouse and Wacom Intuos4 Graphic Tablet. I then added the sky which was a sunset i took just a couple of days ago from my backyard.

This piece was drawn for possible use on the release of a music CD by Hollyann and The Katie Winter a singer/songwriter duet comprising 2 redbubble members and friends of mine Hollyann and Uncleblack
aka lk/les king

The brief was to draw an image inspired by the song Fine Bones as inspiration (lyrics by Hollyann/music by The Katie Winter/les king) listen to it here

while you are over there listening to “her fine bones” you might like to listen to “Sing to me sweetly” and “paper boats” as they are my poems, set to music, sung and recorded by
my friend uncleblack

below is the simple pencil drawing version

Heart of the Earth
by Karin Taylor

Deep in the heart of the Earth
existed a nation no-one had
ever *_hear*t_ of before
these were the earth’s
Heart People
Without the Heart People
who live in Earth’s centre
the lands and those who
people Earth’s surface
would have ceased their
existence long ago
The Heart People
continue on traditions
that have long since
been abandoned by us
The Heart People
sing songs down thru
the ages that enchant
the men and women
who live upon Earth’s Surface
Whosoever should hear
the call and heed the Song
of the Heart People beneath
Earth’s crust
these shall be known as
friends of the Heart Dwellers
and of all Earth’s goodness
and are custodians with
the only Key to the Kingdom
when time ends
Listen to the Heart Songs
of the Earth, you can hear
it on the winds, you can
hear it in the waves, you
can feel it in your Soul
the Heart Language of
Earth herself
