I’m working on a new series of 3 works, another Faith Hope and Love the Flowers of Antiquity ( and I realised a detailed view of one of the girls might look good as a single production…I’m truly happy with this..hope you like her..this is more the direction I’m wanting my work to take

Love this detail- the eyes you achieve have so much depth Karin, and I have really enjoyed them in the different phases your work takes. I can see the sadness Irene alludes to, but it’s like a sadness passed and happiness found again after the tears have dried. LOVE it!

  • Hi Rosie, gosh you’re intuitive!!! Yes….i think you’ve got it by jove!!! this is the sort of sadness i think the angels feel and people feel when bad stuff happens, when we aren’t ‘right’, when there’s no justice…however, it’s that sadness, that eventually puts things right….thank you for hitting the nail on the head Rosie, as they aren’t meant to be just tragic…there is so much more meaning behind the eyes than just sadness ;) xx

Ooh wow, she is BEAUTIFUL!!! A perfect balance of dark & light, as we all carry as people. I actually don’t see sadness so much as peace, and perhaps reflection… there’s even a soft little smile there. I look forward to seeing the full series of works, very exciting if this is any indication!

  • thank you Sarah, yes, very much in the pocket there, thank you so much…i have struggled with the sadness, but i think that sadness produces hope, and there is a fighting spirit that ensues from that, a belief that there’s a better day, a better way…i see reflection too, a reflection of love….sometimes the misty eyes, are as much about loving and being loved…and less about sadness….i love tears :) there are happy tears and sad tears and everything in between I guess…but as much as i know people like my happy works, these wish to be born…and i just don’t want to hold them back any longer :) x

I believe creative expression is one of the most valuable assets in healing. And art comes from the heart speaks at a different frequency to that which is just for a bit of fun; which means that some people may have more trouble “tuning in” than others, but those who do see & hear what you’re communicating will respond, it’s all very much on an intuitive level.
I believe that sadness is transient, and love is permanent. Love comes from within; sadness, comes in response to the external— sometimes because of love. Like all emotions, sadness has it’s place, it’s a question of balance.
“To me, Happiness, true happiness is when you can really dance with sad.”
    ~Tori Amos
This is a beautiful solo version of Secret Spell , with excerpts of an absolute classic song that I think you’ll recognise— and really does fit exactly what we’re talking about here.
