My Paper Dress Impressed the Moon

I heard the ocean call to me
I got dressed up and went to sea

My little boat stayed well afloat
and told my dress it was a ‘paper dream’…

I asked the moon
if I could borrow the stars
to wear in my hair
and it answered me with a moonbeam…

My paper dress impressed the moon !

The painting began as a simple pencil drawing on paper, to which I’ve added some ‘chyogami’ paper which my friend Fa gave me.

I then stuck cello over the top and with my glass nib pen all inked up, i wrote the poem you see above all around her hair etc….

Well, I’ve had this drawing for ages now and almost forgotten about her. Today, i found her again, and thought it was about time I paid her some attention. Here she is 7 hours later, all painted and looking pretty, out there on the ocean in her little boat, with her paper dress on, impressing the moon…..this one has a bit of a darker, more gothic look…a bit different from what I usually do….but still sweet enough for you I hope lol :)))

Must be a theme happening at the moment on the bubble – the moon has featured in quite a few works I have viewed this past week.
But this one is especially gorgeous! Lovely detail and words, (& I love how you have woven them into the fabric of this piece).

  • …oooh really, I hadn’t noticed that….thank you so very much… I had lots of fun with her :) x

oh my gosh, Karin!! i love it, love it, love it!! i didn’t know the paper can look THAT good for a dress!!!! you’re awesome, my friend!!! really!i love her dress, and the overall colors!! a bit dark, but that’s what makes her stand out!!

supercool coloring for the environment.. the textures looks abit scary to some maybe, but i think it’s awesome and it matches her look~ =D she’s a doll!! i bet if there’s a real doll for every one of your girls, they’d sell!! awww.. i wish someone will come offer to make real dolls for you.. Karin Taylor Dolls Collection.. That’s be so darn cool!!!!! XD
