“Beach Picnic” is a pencil drawing which I’ve coloured digitally, I hope you like this image with mother and daughter in similar sundresses. As a child we enjoyed beach picnics all the time, mum would make us special fried chicken (better than Kentucky Fried) and we would go out on the boat to a little island, where i would play with soldier crabs for hours on end, while dad fished and mum sunbaked… they were wonderful times. We also went on the annual Beach Picnic to Bonny Hills with the church and we were great friends with the priest back in those days who was a top water skier.. We would see so many things at Bonny Hills, sea snakes slithered past in the creek where we were swimming and there were amazing white clay deposits in the sand….hours of fun were had by all… not to mention we even had a little mass there… top fun :)

this is stunning Karin, I absolutely adore it!

  • aaaw, thanks so much jlbt!!.. it’s pretty fabric..every time i do a new dress mum seems to find some fabric in the sewing box from years gone by that must have seeped into my subconscious somehow.. I do recall a lovely brown fabric that had half circles of orange pieces all over it, and pretty sure mum and i had a mother and daughter set. Mum always bought extra material and made me a little dress to match hers, but usually in a different style to suit my age :) x

this is a new take and perspective for you the fruit !! like you they are looking back ……..

  • ah yep, it is… something a bit different, i think i’ve found my niche…more comfortable and happy with this way of doing things than ever, so it’s very pleasurable…. the fruit just happened and i thought the lemons looked rather weird in the drawing, but once coloured they seem to take on a life of their own lol :) x

Those beach picnics sound idyllic Karin.Good composition of mother and child and plenty to look at …tiny birds, detail of the fruit etc…Love the little lighthouse ~ Anni xxx

  • Hi and thanx so much Anni, they were special, for sure… one of the happiest and most carefree times in childhood, just as picnics should be… i wish i’d done more picnicing with my own kids… i’ve been dreaming of living in a lighthouse being the lighthouse keeper on a rugged rocky mountain top…so I just had to slip that in there to…cos i paint what i wish for :) x
