Beachcombers
by Karin Taylor

Searching for sea-glass
seashells & marine debri
Flotsam and jetsam
Floating in from the sea
Give me the sun and the sand
Leave me to ponder
the perfection of this land
Creamy foam on waves of turtle green
Blue crystal walls, Whisper my name
Ebbing flow of oceans deep
Sing my soul, at last to sleep
Like lullabies and twinkling stars
Your soothing simple tempo beats
The pure melodies of nature
And nothing else competes.

Traditional pencil drawing on paper with layers of digital painting to complete. An especially popular piece which I think is so, because of it’s deep personal meaning to me. This small painting became bigger than I could ever have imagined, because it spoke of something that I knew nothing of, except that which was in my subconscious mind. An example of how creativity is often able to bring to the fore, the things that are smouldering away deep in our souls, the things that no amount of conscious thinking can heal or repair. Sometimes, it’s only the magic of dipping into the creative consciousness and being brave enough to wander in there with no or little expectations of oneself, that brings about a revelation that is not only your own truth, but speaks somehow to others also.

One of my most popular designs, and I’m so very grateful for all my customers and all the support of redbubble members, who constantly uplift and offer encouragement, my gratitude is unending, thank you!*

Should we go in or not?…I LOVE it…..you are a genuis…but you know that….

  • lol, that’s right Janis.. thank you!!
i just found out that my mum has a photo of a similar image when I was 3 with her at the beach in Yamba, on our first family holiday, she is having dad copy it and send it to me, and i’ll post it here and perhaps with a little ‘memories’ journal about it all, as I have no memory of mum and I doing this, only the photo to prove it happened. I have one memory of that time, but its of me catching my first fish with my father :) x

As always, searching out the little details in your work is a wonderful little adventure in itself. Love the little flower the toddler is holding and the delicate fringing on the towel.
    Beautiful work Karin.
