Artist's Description

Eucalypt Princess

Drawn on sketch paper with a mechanical pencil, then photographed and painted in Procreate for iPad with a stylus pen. This painting took the longest of any I’ve created. There was a lot of detail and somewhere near the end the rubber tip on my stylus ripped and started leaving black rubber all over my iPad screen too. Despite all that, I really enjoyed creating her, she was inspired by one of my favourite childhood authors and illustrators, the wonderful May Gibbs who created The Bush Babies, so it’s in honour of her. Eucalypt Princess symbolises all that we love about the bushes and forests, nature, trees, the wilderness. She is tender and loving toward the habitat and wildlife, here she is nursing a little blue bird that seems to have lost it’s way. I hope you like her, thank you for looking.
