hey there….as you know I have a pretty wild imagination and following the recent arrival of the design book by Stefan Sagmeister called ‘MADE YOU LOOK’ which I won in the Happy Challenge I had a dream where I actually met Stefan… there I was in a puddle of ‘self-doubt’ when he turns around and invites me to work on a project… I rush around excitedly yelling ‘yes!! yes!! yes!!!’ and suddenly realise in another fit of despair…i have no idea what i’m doing or how i’m gonna pull it off…and feeling an absolute fraud… lol … anyway, here is the signed front cover of this wonderful publication I just received!

It’s the coolest thing since sliced bread…. if you can get a copy….. the funniest thing I’ve read so far is on page 138 and is called ‘Designer Biographies – Frightfully Real! STORIES Practically taken from everyday life’ and i can only tell you that it had me in hysterics and provided some excellent comic relief… it’s a comic look at a day in the life of…. all the things that can and do go wrong… and paves the way to having a good laugh at oneself… and the crazy thoughts and messes we get ourselves into, trying to be diplomatic, trying to go the extra mile, being rejected, giving til your spent, everything going wrong… and falling into bed fragile and exhausted….the day began crappy to start with too…ever had one of those.
This book is a great insight into the man Stefan Sagmeister, his humour, his process, his stories, his life so far all laid bare in ‘MADE YOU LOOK’ ... and it’s just brilliant to be able to see parallels of his thinking and thought processes with my own ...very cool indeed, and very heartening.
So THANK YOU Stefan and THANK YOU Pilgrim and others at RedBubble who made this all possible…..you made my day

Yes… yes I have. Far too many recently. I think I am in need of a good laugh too! Upside Down Dogs to the rescue!!!

...also love the stuff on page 110 where he has this wonderful campaign idea and everything goes wrong, but eventually all turns out well….
....don’t you just love a person that stands by their ideas and convictions and refuses to budge, success really belongs to him…
...many of the ideas we have, we stuff them into a little box….he just uses them, brings them out, refuses to be boxed… i love that in a person…it gives me hope and strengthens the sticky tape holding me together :) xxx

oh yeah…i think it’s great, cos seeing him process stuff, and even listening to his videos on youtube you get a great sense of who he is, how he sees things, and why he does the things he does, he’s very human and down to earth. I didn’t know of him until the Happy Challenge, that’s how far under the rock i live… but i’ve had no art education so i guess there’s been no references to his life or work…. so for me it’s a grand new discovery… and a real treasure x

I agree, It is a really cool book. You have a first edition (which is why it looks a bit beat up – call it character)) but it has gone into second edition now. And yes it is a really interesting book. I was very envious when they got to the office and was hard pressed not to grab one!

Oh yes!! The cover is a little scary, but the book comes in a red case (transparent) and the lovely alsation doggy looks so friendly and happy, it’s not til you pI’ll the book out from it’s cover that the doggy doesn’t look quite si happy!! Lol… Thx so much sarah.. xxx
