Studio Completion
Hi everyone,

Well, we spent a long day in the studio today hanging paintings and it’s so satisfying to finally have this all done now. It feels great, more spacious and more like a real gallery.

We’ve had the hanging system lying on the floor of the studio for well over a year now, and never got round to actually putting it up, so I thought I’d share a couple of pics with you guys!!

I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it before, but I have lots of original paintings for sale, if anyone is ever interested in the original work, give me a yell and we can talk turkey :)

I have lots and lots that are unframed too and you can’t see ‘em here .. so let me know if you see something you like in my portfolio and would like the original
SNAPPYDAVE
brilliant … they shall all sell at a fantastic speed
Karin Taylor
replied
thank you very much Dave!!! man, that’d be real nice they did :)
but originals tend to sell more slowly than prints, however, selling an original is sorta like winning the lottery, there’s not another feeling like it lol
jemimalovesbigted
looks fantastic. lucky girl to have a such a great space!
Karin Taylor
replied
thx jem, yeah, i’m dead lucky, i know….. Scott used to talk about it all the time, and i’d say nah… nah…nah!!! He’d say yeah, yeah, yeah!! we’re gonna do it..but i never felt worthy of it to be honest…but i must say, dun a lot for my self esteem…and my growth, hugs x
yanmos
looks amazing karin!!!
Karin Taylor
replied
thx so much yannis…it looks better in real life…so hard to get it all in the frame nicely, and it comes out in a weird perspective… but it looks postively smashing when you’re in the studio… couldn’t be happier mate :)
SNAPPYDAVE
Giz an idea of prices for one of these super originals ?
Warren Williams
This is looking just fantastic, love it. Good luck on sales.
Karin Taylor
replied
thanx very much Warren, greatly appreciated. I’m not really plugging for sales, as these are all my mates here on RB.. but you know, you never really know if you should mention they’re for sale… so i thought, yeah, why not.. be silly not to when i’m showing them hung :)
Colleen Milburn
Wow, I’m jealous of your space!! Looks amazing, sweetie :-D
Karin Taylor
replied
lol, aw now i feel bad Colleen… it’s a great space and I’m really happy with it tho, it’s changed the way i do things and explore with my art…I think having the space has allowed me to expand my ideas….very cool and lotsa fun :)
Sarah ORourke
Looks sensational Karin!!! I know i’ve commented before, but seeing all your work hung together there is definitely something that reminds me of Reg Mombassa… amongst other things, something distinctively Australian… And hopefully that will lead to plenty of sales!!!
Xxx
Karin Taylor
replied
thx so much Sarah, you know how much i love his work, it has influenced me, no doubt about it… plus being a fan of the band and all…hugs 4 you :) xxx
SNAPPYDAVE
cool …. now i’m hoping I win the lotto cus I wanna buy them all ;-)
Jordan Busson
Oh wow, karin, that’s fantastic! what a lovely space. i wish i had a source of income… i’d love to buy some of your originals.
Karin Taylor
replied
aw, thank you very much….it took a long time, and a vision someone else had for me. I never would have this without Scott, who just pushed and pushed for it… he is annoying like that…i would have been happy with our grungy old garage, but no, it had to be done just right with real walls and insulation and i even have air con… it put us in debt.. grrr.. but we’ve had some help and it’s ours now… so i’m very very luck and very very happy too ;)... Setting a goal, has seemed to work. I went to this course for artists and creatives about learning how, and ever since then, i have made small accomplishments leading to different things, i never even dreamed could happen to me….. I feel like all my life, i’ve had very little success…but more and more things, seem to be going right, and doors seem to be opening that once were closed… it’s a nice feeling :)
Jakki O
Oh Karin, it looks so fabulous! You must be soooo happy. Your beautiful work displayed is such a wonderful studio! I’m so happy for you (and a little jealous lol). You are truly an inpsiration. Thank you :-D
Karin Taylor
replied
Hi Jak!!! i was so excited to show n tell!! I am soooo happy :) I wanted it up mainly for visitors that visit my studio and I get rather manic trying to find all the paintings and pull them out from nooks and crannies, ... so it will be more peaceful now, to have a ‘showing’ for potential customers…. if you know what i mean… ? I would love a little white lounge and coffee table, so i could sit them down with a coffee and relax opposite while they browse,.... it will happen, but i need a little more time and $’s :) xxx
Keith Richardson
That’s such a wonderful idea Karin! Getting many of them out of piles and up onto walls, where they really do belong. Looks great!
Karin Taylor
replied
thanx very much Keith, been wanting to for so long now, I’m not doing a lot of framing these days, very little, i just mainly do them and keep them in protective sleeves, so clients can frame them to suit their decore, but it’s excellent to get these up on the wall … in a gallery, where one or two works are displayed, a person’s work can be diluted by all the other works… so it really makes a nice impression to have an entire wall or two dedicated to the one artist’s style :)
Pip Gerard
looks bloody wonderful Karin. All the hard work paid off. xox
Karin Taylor
replied
hey Pippy, thanks mate… yeah… geesh, it’s been a whopper day….still gotta go price ‘em all and clean up my ‘pile of papers’ at the computer…which has almost outgrown my desk here… lol…but i just had to load these pics first and share… hugs xoxo
Barbara Glatzeder
aye! Wow, looks great! I wish I had that amount of wall space … no hang on, I wish I had a studio! Cool wall colour too, makes them come out beautifully. Thanks for sharing, that is really inspirational :-))) xx Good luck with the sales!
Karin Taylor
replied
lol… thx Barbara!! I’m glad you like that wall colour, i wasn’t so happy with it for such a long time, but i think the paintings do stand out nicely on it, it’s sort of warm and plush, and looks nice with the vinyl look timber on the floor…. i saw the idea in a magazine and love the look… but it was winter and as the summer months wore on, i felt the colour too warm… but now, i’ve come full circle and like it again… :) xxx
Isa Rodriguez
I want them all !!! .. wow, Karin.. I know the feeling of waiting a year with the tool hanging around for the length of time.. I so love your work.. and this is so cool.. I especially love polka dot bikini there.. you are so cool..
Karin Taylor
replied
Thx so much Isa, I love that spotty one too, with the butt crack…lol
i once saw some rather large ladies at the beach in their bikinis, and by george they didn’t let some lumps and bumps stop them having fun, so i found it joyous to paint the larger ladies in bikinies from the perspective of these happy go lucky ladies :) xxx
connieinwi
Your walls look fabulous… I see so many I would love, your work is totally awesome…. thanks for sharing… Connie
Karin Taylor
replied
Hi connie.. thank you, that’s so nice xxxx
Jeannette Sheehy
how wonderful to have a such a large space! I’m still trying to sort out my tiny office that seems to have become a holding area for stuff that is destined for the attic..::sigh:: one day…
Karin Taylor
replied
it sure is jeannette…. lol…. you should see my desk…deliberately not in the pics above, what a huge mess! :) x
Janis Zroback
It’s a good idea to have a space not only to work in but to display work for sale…I am lucky to have a whole floor of my house devoted to my painting including a display area..it means people can see how the art looks when it’s hanging…your space looks fabulous Karin…now you can hold show tours of your work…
Karin Taylor
replied
yes, it’s nice to have both, thanx Janis… i do have the infrequent visitor so it’s nice to have it looking good and professional… I’m not the tye to hold tours tho…i get very anxious in the company of people..lol…it takes me a week to get over a ‘visit’ and find my creative energy again .. :) xx
Trish Woodford
This looks great, how exciting for you Karin :))
Karin Taylor
replied
hey thx very much Trish :) xx
MoonSpiral
This looks great, is this just in an out building or shed type of thing? I really need something like this. I have a great work space in my basement, but I wouldn’t want to show my work there ;). I am also always wondering should I mention that originals are for sale, I guess I assume everyone already assumes that, hum…...
Karin Taylor
replied
hi MoonSpiral, thank you :)
this is a 2 car garage steel shed we purchased through Ranbuild about 2 years ago i think.. we had a cement slab poured first as we live in an area prone to strong galeforce winds, and then the men came and put it all together in a couple of days, though the process of gettng it all sorted and council approved took much longer, after that Scotty and his brothers had working bees to get the electrics put on and the walls up inside, and then my parents came down to help with painting the walls… a big joint effort was had, and now it feels so worthwhile… I think that it’s a good idea to add that the original is for sale in your description, i think that perhaps we do make the assumption, but it’s worthwhile to add that, because often people don’t actually think of it. :) When Scott wanted to make the shed nice, i thought eventually, that if it was nice, there was some potential for showings and not just being a workspace, so i’ve had that in mind with the layout from the start… tho i would be just as happy in a basement or a room to myself … :) x
Shannon Rene' ...

Well congratulations and how wonderful for you Karin! You are sure deserving of this beautiful gallery space. I’ll bet it’s a huge source of inspiration as well! Have you slept in it yet? You betcha! I would! Make your own little cozy corner with favorite cushy lounge chair, plants, a stained glass lamp…ah…I see it now! I’m so very happy and excited for you!! YOU are a dear soul, ALL the best!
Linda Callaghan
Sooooo happy for you Karin that you now have this wonderful space to display your amazing art work. The colour on the wall really compliments your beautiful art work. Does this now mean that you can advertise for the public to come see your art and if so do you need council approval and insurance? just wondering as hubby was thinking of putting up a studio for me one day!!! :-D …I wish you many many sales (which I am sure you will have) .... you are such an inspiration to many….hugs xxxx
