Tube Chic by Karin Taylor
Mixed Media Production

I used ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal to create the original Tube Chic
So many women have taken up surfing in our area
I admit, I always wanted to, and a few years ago
lept on a mal and caught my first wave
with lots of yahooing
yeah it was the
best feeling :)

Although I don’t surf much on a board these days, i prefer a body surf or some fun on a shark cookie (body board) lol….......a lot of my family do still surf…husband, son, daughter, brother .... heck my bro Tim was pretty famous once ….they called him Twister, for his amazing manouvres in the surf and sharp flix…and of course, they all nicknamed me ‘Twister’s Sister’ which was pretty cool at the time…..since then my bro actually has snapped both his ankles doing his cool trix in the surf…..once he had to swim in and drag himself up the beach trying to get help…...no-one was around…..eventually a 4wd came to the rescue down on the beach….loaded Tim up on the truck and got him some ambulance attention…...i took him to the hospital and passed out :))
can’t handles hospital smells!! or is it the thought of blood….both!!

    hello fa… :)
i only surfed a few times, but it’s easy on a huge malibu…you get balance pretty fast…you would have the best fun on a body board…but floating is all i usually feel up to these days!!!! i think floating is the gentlest and nicest thing to do in the ocean :) but i understand that crazy hazy look in the eye of of a salt-crazed surfer too :)

yes, but he broke each ankle on separate occasions would you believe!!!
he still surfs, and also paints…. murals/whales/sealife….he’s a talented kid…..well, i say kid, but actually he’s 38 this year! he also has had diabetes since he was 10…so that was rough on him…he started surfing at the same time, which was really good to help regulate his blood sugar and keep him healthy….he longs for the day when he won’t have to give the injections twice daily …. poor fella

Ahhh, an artists family I see :)))
I’ve got an aunt and her son who are quite badly affected by diabetes, quite a plague indeed…It takes a lot of discipline.. they tend to have a sweet tooth too unfortunately :(
