Flying Saucers

Flying Saucers

From the ‘Friends’ Series by karin Taylor comes Flying Saucers…..

Here’s one I did quite a while ago called ‘Flying Saucers’.....
I had a wonderful time for a while creating these little prints!
I would create a design on paper, transfer it to foam.
Then using a knife, cut into the foam – not all the way thru..
ink the foam, blot and stamp!!! The best fun ever!!!
Then I hand coloured with pastels!!
If you hadn’t guessed yet, they are cups and saucers :)

Thanks for describing the technique, I am always looking for ways to “loosen up”.

  • Karin Taylorcommunity helper replied

...glad you can get something useful from it Edward, it’s tons of fun and you can get a few prints out of the foam (available at craft shops) before it starts to disintegrate….. :) i would love to learn true printing techniques..i am but am amateur

  • Edward Huse

    Edward Huse

the traditional techniques were easier for me than I thought they would be, but there is a lot of fine-tuning involved that you don’t have to bother with with techniques that let you be spontaneous with less premeditation – I am sure you would get into it. Dive in!
