Skater Girl design is taken from an original ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal painting on canvas textured paper by Karin Taylor.
The design has been digitally enhanced with a few minor touches in Photoshop.
I recently broke my left elbow in my skateboard debut…...it hurt…...so, big points to the rest of you skateboarders out there for sticking with….but my skater girl days are over bigtime!!! lol
Card and Tshirts both available in this design!

i saw this yesterday but couldnt comment then.. LOVE THIS ONE! nice movement, lovely top..
i like how her top, pants and skates compliment each other.. oh, and i like that shade of color you used for the pants! XD How did you get the textures for that? =D
Karin Taylor
replied
thank you very much :)
i think i ‘posterised’ in ‘photoshop’......that gives a nice touch…but not too much or they look all pock-marked in the face. I used that texture also on a couple of my others, ‘one spring day’ and ‘iliki spirit of aloha’ and geez I love that effect…I get excited and forget what I’ve done…but I think it was ‘posterising’ :) (it is an original painting first, with a photo taken of it, then i added the touches in Photoshop)...the jeans were quite a bit bluer, but I added some black to the blue, to give it that black jean look, which is a bit grungier and edgier :) I’m glad you like it !!

oooh.. cool.. interesting.. i thought you colored with some pastel above acrylic.. but then again, i think that will produce a different effect.. hehe.. oh, don’t forget to update your “Skater Girl TShirt click here” link above.. it’s linked wrongly.. ;)
Karin Taylor
thanks for picking that problem up:)
i think i’ve finally fixed it, but i’ve got brain fog tonight!!
the orig painting does have pastel and acrylic on it, but the black stippling came from the texturising :) have just watched ‘Edward Scissorhands’ with Johnny Depp (my fave) :) and heaps of chocolate!!

hey karin, this is so cool, your style is so unique, and still i find this one very special! well done :)
Karin Taylor
replied
hi franzi, it’s so good to hear stuff like that…...there’s not much point uploading them if they are all same same, it gets boring…but people like to be able to recognise a style…hard to get the right balance, the right mix…so thanks for that feedback…very cool!!!
