Still Waters

‘Beach Series’ card by Karin Taylor

Still Waters sold very early on, but she is one of my favourite images. I was inspired by Margaret Preston’s work on this occasion, wanting to give the impression of a print somehow.

This is a mixed media production in which I used ink, pastel, acrylic and charcoal.

Still Waters belongs to the following groups:

Back In Black, Beach Art, Childhood, Cutest of the Cute, Mixed Media, Seachanges, Surfing and Tropical Art

TODAY IS YOUR LUCKY DAY…. YOU WHY….
WELL ILL TELL U WHY…. GO OUT… AND BUY A WEEKLY LOTTERY TICKET….... AND THEN GIVE IT TO YOUR WORST …..”ENEMY AS A GIFT”, BUT IT HAS TO BE THE PERSON YOU HATE AND THINK OF THE MOST, AND CANT STAND TO EVEN BE IN THE SAME ROOM WITH.
AND THEN YOU WILL SEE WHAT KIND OF REAL ARTIST YOU REALLY ARE…
    ?
BECAUSE IT’S SOMETIMES HARD TO TELL FROM A PHOTO WHAT KIND OF PERSON REALLY IS BEHIND THE CAMERA TAKING SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SHOT LIKE THIS ONE, SO PROVE TO YOURSELF, WHO YOU REALLY ARE FIRST, JUST PRETEND YOU ARE THAT SINGLE SPECIAL MOMENT THAT PERFECT MOMENT, AND A GREAT PHOTOGRAPHER HIGH IN THE HEAVENS IS PHOTOING YOU, IMAGINE WHAT KIND OF PHOTO THAT WOULD BE.? YOU GIVING A LOTTERY TICKET TO YOUR WORST ENEMY…..........?

I love the way this fits together. It reminds me of a simple wood puzzle; it seems to have a tactile quality. For some reason I really like the very obvious textured shading. I am sorry to say it may be because it makes the surfboard and the person’s arm and shoulder look like frosted cookies. Maybe I’m hungry this morning!

Thank you Douglas, you really look into the art, and it’s interesting to hear what you find, and the feelings evoked, very much appreciated….. the textured shading does look a bit like a frosted cookie….i think it’s brekky time for you!! lol…it may make sense to you, that this piece was inspired after a heavy soaking in Margaret Preston’s works of art…...couldn’t help it, it just came out this way!! :)
