It’s really really really interesting and a great great relief to hear you say that fa…..I’ve been a bit concerned people won’t like the ‘new’ stuff as much….but what can you do if that’s what’s coming out!!! it’s hard to put a cork in it :D Anyway, it really matters to me, so I’m very happy you like it as well :D

I am influenced by everything, like a sponge i soak up everything around me all day long, everything i see and hear….I am self taught and just read a lot and look at lots of images…my favourite artist in the world is Brett Whitely, i adore his work…what i would give to paint so fluently. Reading novels inspires me, as i begin to ‘see’ what the characters may look like…..making mind pictures…music is an element too which allows me to formulate mind pictures, for instance, Gregory and the Hawke have a beautiful song with lyrics like ‘You be my boat, and I’ll be your sea’, “you be my star and I’ll be your sky’...these words give me mind pictures, or better put, inspiration i guess. I am heavily influenced by children’s authors and illustrators…but i don’t follow anyone in particular…i’m a bit of a hussy really, i take what i can, mix it all up and keep on moving…..i meet people, sometimes other artists, and pick their brains for what they like and are moved by, and by osmosis pick up these things too…and add them in….i have a lovely friend who quilts and sews….so you see I begin to add threads and buttons, fabrics and other ‘things’ i find…..there are also strong design aspects in my work, which I have found attract graphic designers, so I think perhaps I am just a very frustrated designer…as I love to create dresses and outfits but cannot sew to save myself….I guess all these things mixed in together, come out in my work.

I hope that it makes some sense, because there is no rhyme or reason, just whatever goes in, gets distilled, and mixed together and thrown back out again in a painting!! lol
