One Spring Day
‘Friends Series’ card by Karin Taylor
One Spring Day is a mixed media production (ink, pastel, charcoal, acrylic) on canvas textured paper. I have also used a variety of found objects, including lace and ribbons…and an especially beautiful gold paint for the wings which were underpainted first to created texture.
On of my favourite paintings, my heart and soul went into this piece…two sweet little girls in darling dresses hanging out in the garden together….what could be nicer.

this is cute!! the style seems a lil different from your asian influenced pieces, but just as equally adorable~ =D i love the way you paint their dresses.. it’s so pretty.. definately a fav!

yes, you’re right, I did this one after a long spell in between paintings…it was a commission for a work colleague of my husbands. she has two little blonde girls…..the first commission i did for them was ‘best of friends’

Ah, I really really like this painting! It’s so cute and naive (in a good way!) and childlike. Love the way you used all the different materials to make this; it has a really nice effect. I especially like the textures, like in their dresses.

I just remembered that I also used lace and ribbons on the dress and flower stems too. I love your work also…and wish you every success in your dream to become a children’s book illustrator…you certainly have the talent!
