’’Asian Series’ card by Karin Taylor
Tang Court Trio came about through my research on the history and culture of the Chinese people. During the Tang period in China, art, literature and music flourished, and female musicians were in abundance. I find their traditional garments beautiful, artworks in themselves.
Tang Court Trio Musicians belongs to the following groups:
Artists of the Orient and Japanfluence Available for sale asGreeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints, Framed Prints and Posters

Belinda "Billy...
Wow, whats the medium, is it paper or canvas, how do you work these. They are great. Billy
Karin Taylor
replied
Hi BillyLee, thanks for your lovely comments. In answer to your question, I used paper here, but the paper itself is impressed with a canvas like texture in the layer of gesso. My method is to research a lot, then draw in fine detail, I work a lot with acrylics, pastels, charcoal and ink….this painting uses all these media. I sometimes create rubber stamps from an old gum rubber as well, hence my sig at the bottom and the asterix at the top. :D Cheers, Karin

hehe…...please don’t feel bad, i think there are lots of things i’ve not yet commnted on in your gallery fa….but you know i love them all without saying … !! i think it’s a great idea, i tried a while ago, but my cutting out skills weren’t so crash hot then, i may try again with this one….but still…i find the cutting out very hard work…and often i fail and have to start all over again (any tips?) i use the magic eraser and cut out tool for most things…it can be very tricky indeed fa :D

hi Karin! i just got home.. glad you don’t mind! =D

you should really try the polygonal lasso tool in photoshop.. i made a printscreen of the icon for it..
You can find the online tutorials at utube.. i found one quite useful here just bmail me if you got any questions, k! hope it works! =D
Also check out this tutorial on the magic wand.. it’s really good for quick selection which you can do for the white and brown areas.. =D
Karin Taylor
replied
thank you so much fa, i do use this quite a bit, but there must be tricks to it, I will definitely go to these links, you’ve gone to so much trouble for me, i really do appreciate this very much indeed. it’s one of those things that i just wish were easier….i’ll let you know how i go…i have a particular project in mine…as you said the Tang Court Trio, and a few other ones in the Asia series, which need to be cut out to go on tees :D thx again!!!! Hugs, K xo
frozenfa
ps: i still think polygonal lasso tool is the fastest way to go. just zoom in and select.. click click click.. close the selection area.. delete and repeat steps.. hope it helps.. n_n”
frozenfa
naa.. no troubles at all.. it’s not like i did the video.. lolz.. hope it works.. i think it’s like a matter of practice.. some even like to use the masking tool in photoshop.. there are alot of ways eh? just always to always do the erasing on a copy of the original layer instead..
you can find quick mask tutorial here and here
