In answer to your question it all started with my kids learning Judo would you believe (but I secretly always love asian babies) I made a card to thank sensai and then I was sorta hooked on the subject of sweet little asian characters. I am of irish and jewish decent and we don’t have asians in our family, but we do have some indonesians and I haven’t travelled far….but I love to read ancient folklore and stories of intrepidly brave warriors from other lands, I love to learn about other cultures, in that regard I am like a sponge. I have lots of books in my library, and pictorials about chinese and japanese culture, history and folklore, and I get absorbed and mesmerised by the information until there’s nowhere else for it to go, but to come out in a painting…. I’m also very caught up with the tahitian/polynesian history…I guess it comes from a voracious apetite to understand people from other cultures….I have this idealistic philosopy of everyone in the world all getting along together, lol

thank you ujean, i love the stories/fables where there is a princess who’s meant to marry into royalty, but she falls for a humble boy, or farmhand or fisherman, and although forbidden they decide to runaway and make a life together, sacrificing everything else for their love…i am so happy you like it!! it’s a romantic notion i’ve always loved to dwell on
