I so love the pencil serie Karin ! there is something wonderful about your drawings without colors… hum, maybe for the same reason I prefer b&w for some kind of pictures. Hard to explain this in english for me, but I’m giving it a try; all is pure expression and emotion and colors can not defocus me from the richness of all lines and details. and here there is so much beautiful details. It,s a pure delight Karin !
have a great day

Oh thank you Aimelle, what a lovely response, that’s great…i know what you mean…sometimes I just don’t wanna colour them in, but then it feels incomplete…and as tho i haven’t challenged myself …. but i very much love the raw and unfinished version of all drawings….it’s fascinating to see what’s underneath :) xxx

Hi Karin, As I always say of B&W photography – its the detail that is enhanced by B&W or Pencil in this case. Details like the little stars sneaking into the scene,
the little patches on her elbows, the ultra small curls at the end of her hair, the texture and 3D quality of the tree itself. ABFAB, Karin

I love everything about this. I like the simple lines of the tree, nd the bigger than big moon hiding just a smidgen. I have been called a tree-hugger, but I am not a RADICAL tree-hugger. I like how it looks like the character might be wearing a belt… and my mind jumped to RobinHood and his merry men… so I guess the belt reminded me of part of a bow and arrow set… I don’t know how to explain it. And then the mind jumps to the little teddy!!! I just love this and the color rendering. hugs on trees, Beth

thx so much Beth, i love how you describe your thoughts when you view it, and it came to me one day when i was watching 2 little girls playing beneath a large pine at the pub…. there little arms couldn’t possibly reach around the girth of the tree, and yet they kept trying to embrace it and climb it….as soon as I saw the scene I wanted to draw it, as it really inspired me, and I’m a fan of Robin Hood too :) x
