Maid of Honour
Maid of Honour is usually a close friend or relative of the bride, who becomes her confidante and right hand help during the months leading up the wedding day and on the big day itself.
I hope you like her. When my husband saw this, he said
she took my breath away. reminds me of the first time I saw you .breath takingly beautiful
it just doesn’t get better than that :) xx
This started off as a pencil drawing I did a couple of months ago, I’ve since coloured her in digitally.
Makes a nice thank you card from the bride, or just a pretty gift card or print for a girlfriend or your sweetheart.

thank you so much sal..they look like little bees, but i think they’re little flowers…it’s one of those old pillbox hats, my grandma used to wear…. i’ve one here at home! It’s made of furry stuff, hope it’s not real fur :( Anyway, the one in the painting is fake fur!! lol

Hi Karin, I love her eyes as with all your little characters – of course.
I love the tones in the ‘material’ at her waistline, I love the tones in her hair,
I love the shadows around her hat and face and shoulders – giving her such a 3D quality. I love the shading at her neck and shoulders which again enhance her 3D quality. She is kind of ‘more real’ than a photo of a person – because of your subtle shading. A ‘smile factor’ piece of art. Love it :o)

Hi gts!! thank you very much, i like this digital colouring, to be honest, i find it much much more fun than painting with a brush a lot of the time, less messy, and the effects one gets and so much more controlled… you can’t muddy the painting as you can with real paints, and i just love the fun of it and unexpected results. I really love that you can try all sorts of colour schemes out first, whereas this is much more difficult with painting naturally. There is only one opportunity and if you get that wrong, it can be a bit devastating, as you lose the whole painting. With a pencil drawing, i can always recolour this differently if i wanted to… so cool to be able to do that… thanx every so much for noticing … i love how you put it, ‘more real’ than a photo… wow :)

thank you very much Anni, that’s what my son said, he could see some of me in there, i had no idea … i was thinking this looks very very much like my Aunty Karin, mum’s little sister… i didn’t see my likeness at all…but can a little bit now i guess… i have heard that we do do this too, my sister has an artist friend and she did it a lot too… i guess it’s what we know having seen our mug in the mirror a lot lol :) xxx

Yes, indeed – she IS gorgeous!! I absolutely adore the tones, Karin – I’d love to know how to do digital painting – I haven’t got a clue! What software do you need? Whatever it is, you’re a master (mistress?!) at this beautiful art :-D

i hope you can get started…there are other programs people use, such as Corel Draw… and I’m not sure if Gimp is a free software program you can download, i’ve not used that before … there is a Photoshop Help Group here on RB that may be helpful, and plenty of youtube tutorials you can watch to get you started :)
