The Little White Geisha
The Little White Geisha has been nominated by BLYTHART through the Pay It Forward Group Dave says, and I quote “I’d like to promote this picture by Karin Taylor as she expresses the emotions so well in the girl’s face”.
Thank you so much Dave for this very special nomination, I was really surprised and feel extremely grateful and so honoured my friend…

her eyes say so much.
great texture to the piece. And I love that she’s a blonde because you don’t see blonde and blue eyed geisha’s very often.
wonderful Karin.
Karin Taylor
replied
thanx Pippy, I enjoyed painting her very much… I was surprised to read during my research that there have been blue eyed blonde haired asians! I think tho, that this particular little geisha is just dressing up in some beautiful old kimono she found in the attic :)

BLYTHART
I love the harmony of the colours in this picture. For me this is special because it isn’t always possible to portray character, yet you have done it and done it perfectly. I know this is a stylised painting, but the viewer almost feels this girl is real and is going to step out of the frame. Her eyes are marvellous. I know you usually depict happiness, but it is good to cover the whole spectrum of emotions and here I see contemplation and a certain wisdom behind the eyes. Here is someone who has experienced life and would understand my own problems and lend a sympathetic ear.
I personally feel it would be a wonderful thing if you were to continue your explorations of the human condition and portray more of the wide spectrum of human emotions. Don’t ever feel you must be restricted to doing only happy faces, much as we love them. Artists should be free to depict beauty, ugliness, horror, pain, or even wickedness if they feel it is right to do so at the time.
Here you have depicted a beautiful woman and given us a little glimpse into her beautiful soul. I’d like to see more in this style Karin.
Torfinn Johann...
Gorgeous colours, details, and expression.
Mui-Ling Teh
This is different, but rather interesting. Though you do a variety of series, there is always a distinct recognizable quality in all of them that say that they are by you. This is like a combination of your asian work and portrait work; so very YOU!!!
Karin Taylor
replied
lol, thanx Mui-Ling… I probably was a little mixed up when I painted this one…i was thinking of lots of different themes, but mainly ‘east meets west’ so you’ve hit the nail right on the head with your response..thank you for being so intuitive! :) x
