Journey of a Thousand Thoughts

Journey of a Thousand Thoughts

the drawing prior to photoshopping
I drew this last night in bed….with a sketch pad on my lap, by a lowlit lamp…..the eyes came first, as usual…....then the rest…...until i had but a head…..and no room for a body…... I thought what can I add to make this more about me, more interesting….then i remembered the beautiful hot air balloons I’d seen recently photographed by my friend Steven Agius and a while ago some other balloons taken by my friend Jeannette Sheehy and I thought it would make a great balloon….drifting away through the atmosphere, deep in thought….that’s how i often find myself…semi self portrait
Drawn with pencil on A3 acid free cartridge paper.
Coloured in photoshop

wow, really interesting and beautiful work Karin!
Janis Zroback
I like the superimposed face on the other faces….the eyes glitter with that look of being turned inward to oneself…so a thousand thoughts is a perfect title…
Ulrikeart
yes, the title fits her expression perfectly, wonderful image, great work…...........
pinkyjain
Wow, this is so incredibly beautiful Karin, unique, stunning, gorgeous
Linda Callaghan
what a great drawing and title Karin….I really do like the emphasis on the large head and eyes as the title says it is all about the thoughts.. and a fab idea with the journey being symbolised by the air balloon…great idea and what a masterpiece created sitting in bed! I may take my sketch pad to bed tonight :-D
bev langby
oh this is just right lol u clever girl , i sometimes sketch in bed also with the telly on , cause i need more stimulation than the idiot box lol

replied
yep, that’s when i think i do my best work, sketching before i go to sleep susanne :) it’s only something new for me, but it really feels good to nod off after completing a piece, and then i get to ‘colour it in’ the next day ;) x

It’s funny that you said it was a semi self portrait, because the first thing I thought on opening it was that it was you! sooooo beautifully done, I think one of your best, I love the eyes and how the hair is so prettily adorned. When i go to bed and try to sleep all I see are floating flowers (litterally!!). xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I hear you, only 3 weeks ago I was going through a lot and had a drought of creative flow
A change in my environment both of a personal nature and also my natural surroundings
Turned that negative drought into a positive flow… It allowed me to continue to draw even when I was feeling lowest and the drawing drew out the poison and set me on a clearer path..
Thanx for your beaut comments, an artist of your calibre and talent will return strongly as the tide begins to surge firth again, even if fir the moment it ebbs.. It is only for a time… The ocean of creative flow will and must return , just as an apple thrown up must come down, so that gravitational pull will soon have you juices flowing once again, and I bet it comes on you like a tidal wave when it does :)))) xxxx
georgiegirl
