Once the Chunkies are created and photographed, I usually dismantle them to be used in the creation of more chunkies, so I am recycling the plasticine. These Chunkies have been very therapeutic to create over the holidays, whilst taking a break from red bubble and having my family around. I have many more to come, and although I won’t be on RB as much, I hope to also be doing some serious painting this year…so i look forward 2009 with much anticipation …
CHUNKIE Hula Girl has been sculpted from plasticine and photographed in the studio, her glamourous lips, eyes and the ocean behind her, have been added using a little photoshopping. She stands on a very old aged book, which I thought gave the effect of sand…i hope you like her
The idea or concept came to me on Christmas Day, when my artist friend Jane from the UK sent our family some handmade bonbons, in mine was a tiny packet of mini plasticine…..and the CHUNKIES were born :)

Hi Mohsen,

I’m not much of a photographer…it is very hard to keep the camera nice and still..but I feel good if you think it’s sharp and focused!!

BLYTHART
What a same that you recycle them Karin. You could do groups of them and make them into a feature on Redbubble. Take photos of them at famous locations (real or digital). You could even start the next craze … go for it gal!
Karin Taylor
replied
thank you Dave, it is a bit of a shame…the figures are only ever half finished would you believe…as soon as they look good enough from the front…i photograph and dismember them….lol….but i quite enjoy that I take them apart afterwards, no regrets :)

Very beautifully done! Is plasticine the same as Fimo ? (I use to work with Fimo)
Karin Taylor
replied
thx so much Ellen, plasticine is a very cheap version of Fimo…it’s just what little kids use….Fimo is stronger and more durable and longer lasting I think Ellen, but yeah, it’s the same kind of stuff :)

Patricia Anne ...
THESE are SO cute what a great IDEA! Have you thought about making them anyway out of sculpy clay you bake in the oven. My goodness I love them, I use to make stuff like this all the time your inprireing me t with these cuties! WONDERFUL work
Karin Taylor
replied
thank you Patricia Anne… i have thought about it, but i really like using plasticine…the softness makes my job so much easier, i think the other clays aren’t as malleable as I’d like…even tho they are more permanent, they are also very expensive here…so I am happy to continue with plasticine for now, thank you so much for your ideas!! much appreciated!! xxx
