hi Makeba,....yes, after i did this i thought of your paintings!!!
and also of Sparklehen… who uses lots of lines in her work….
i wonder if i was influenced somehow…but at the time I did it
I was thinking about ‘mothers and daughters’ and I only named
it “Madonna and Child” at the last minute…....since then I realised
how many different applications it has, firstly there is a competition going at a Manly Gallery in Sydney for mother/daughter theme, then i was asked to do a xmas series, (i had no idea this would fit that theme until another bubbler pointed it out) and it is the beginning of months of thinking about mothers and daughters….and finally getting something ‘out’ there….. the ones i’d like to do next will probably be more involved than this one, which was quickly created on brown paper…..it is so hard to find time to do ‘indepth’ paintings these days :D thx for your lovely comment Makeba :D

aw, thanx janis, this piece was created rather quickly on brown paper, the brown paper ones are like a quick release of inspirational flow and energy, and i’ve been thrilled with how they work out…it is always a mystery to me how these brown paper paintings evolved….from a moment of boredom and impatience came this lovely little idea…that grew and blossomed into motherhood this particular time :D

gee wiz! thx barnsis… what a lovely response to this piece!
funny i’d been dreaming of doing some ‘mother and daughter’ pieces for a long time, and just hadn’t had time, this piece just came out very quickly, it was drawn in about 5 mins…and the painting part didn’t take long either. the most important part of the process is the ‘daydreaming’ and that can take sometimes up to a year of just plain thinking…..the longer it sits/cooks in the mind, sometimes the easier it is to come out…
I’m thrilled with your response to this… each time i look at it, my heart is touched… i don’t feel it was me who painted it… (it was) but just that it all happened so fast..and i love it also :)
