I like the use of repeating circles here. Eyes, heads, inner tubes, the way the arms also suggest similar circles reaching out of the frame, and last but not least, the waves surrounding all. It is very effective. On another work, you mentioned in the caption that it was a study in lines. Was this a deliberate study in circles, I wonder?
Karin Taylor
replied
Hi Doug,
very perceptive of you, but I did the circles unknowingly…..all i know is i love the use of lines, but am drawn the the circle in particular….it is really lovely to create the arcs and i love a full circle….i can’t seem to help myself….but it wasn’t deliberate. I find that i lose passion for drawing very quickly if it’s a flat object or a sharp object like a triangle….the circle allows me to shade it creating areas of light, form and shade in a far more satisfying way.
thank you for giving me your response to this, i really enjoyed trying to answer the question !
